This benefitted position may be filled as a Three-Quarter Time Employee [.75 FTE] or a Part Time Employee [.50 FTE]

Preference may be given to candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish.

The Opportunity:

Under general guidance and direction of the Division Director - WIC and Program Coordinator - Lactation Services, performs lactation support work at a full performance level. Provides breastfeeding information and specialized assistance by telephone or in person to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Incumbents in this classification have successfully completed an approved Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) course.

Grade:

Lactation Support Specialist II - 716

Lactation Support Specialist I - 715

Starting Pay:

Lactation Support Specialist II - $17.20 - $19.73 per hour

Lactation Support Specialist I - $16.02 - $18.41 per hour

Schedule: Monday and Tuesday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Wednesday 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., Thursday and Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Job Qualifications - Lactation Support Specialist II:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

One (1) year of lactation/breastfeeding support work experience.

OR

Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Health Promotion, or other public health field.

Six (6) months of lactation support experience, work or otherwise.

Job Qualifications - Lactation Support Specialist I:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Six (6) months of lactation support experience, work or otherwise.

Preferred Candidates will possess some of the below attributes:

Applicant must have completed a minimum forty-five (45) hour approved breastfeeding specific education course within the last five (5 ) years. If it has been longer than five (5) years, applicant must submit proof of continuing education hours sufficient to maintain credential.
