Heavy Equipment Operator - 3/4 Time needed in Provo, Utah.
Job Summary
The heavy equipment operator/truck driver will be proficient in the operation of construction equipment as well as have an understanding of construction elements, such as shoring, infrastructure, and safety protocols. Truck driving duties include hauling materials to and from campus as needed, operating equipment for projects and to load or unload the truck. Operations will always be performed within acceptable safety procedures and guidelines, ensuring truck and equipment are kept in a safe working condition. He/she will perform tasks assigned by the supervisor to complete projects in an efficient, accurate and timely manner. He/she will participate in snow removal.
Essential Functions
Drive trucks/hook trucks
Deliver/remove materials from job site
Loading, unloading and
Tracking loads/materials for reporting/payment requirements
Deliver and pick up roll-off bins to temporary construction sites
Empty the load at the transfer station when needed
Deliver and pick up roll-off bins to temporary construction sites
Operate equipment and manual tools to accomplish project completion
Have a good understanding of and experience with construction elements
Shoring, infrastructure, equipment operation, elevations, blue staking rules, load capacities, etc.
Perform tasks assigned by supervisor
Assist with miscellaneous projects
Accurate record keeping
Time cards daily
Training documentation
Efficient tracking of materials/loads
Snow Removal
On call to work within a team scope in assigned snow removal area to clear walks, stairs, roads, plazas, crosswalks and ADA areas, parking lots and as necessary, athletic fields, in a safe and non-destructive manner.
Education/Experience
Minimum education/experience required: Commercial Drivers License and experience operating equipment, such as forklift, loader, skid-steer, track-hoe, etc.
Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications:
CDL license required
Ability to pass post-offer physical exam
Effective supervising, mentoring, and training skills
Ability to work courteously with employees and patrons of the MTC, Temple, and BYU
Ability to respect and adhere to safety guidelines
Effective record keeping abilities
Professional attitude, dress and adherence to the University's Honor Code
