Position Summary: The Prevention Services Coordinator position provides comprehensive drug, alcohol and problem gambling prevention services throughout Multnomah County. This position serves as a member of a team providing prevention programming in schools and community-based organizations throughout the county. The position will require outreach-related activities such as phone calls, in-person outreach, and tabling events, development and sharing of content such as presentations/workshops and social media, and the planning and implementation of activities such as key informant interviews and focus groups. This position will serve as a member of a team providing new prevention programming in schools and community-based organizations throughout the county, and will facilitate workshops in professional development settings, to parents, youth, and more. This position will work with the team on an assortment of projects, but a primary component of the work will be organizing, convening, and facilitating youth group meetings (virtually and in person) amongst middle and high school students focusing on behavioral health topics such as substance misuse, problem gambling, and mental health.

Education, Training and Experience:
• Solid knowledge base of human development, family dynamics, addictions theory, learning theory and prevention.

Competencies:
• Ability to work effectively with youth and families.
• Knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multicultural and diverse socioeconomic situations.
• Ability to effectively work with diverse populations (including, but not limited to, ethnic, religious, physical and mental abilities, etc.).
• Ability to be flexible in work schedule: some evening and weekend work will be required, to meet the needs and accommodate schedules of youth.
• Ability to work as a member of the team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Eligibility Requirements:
• An active driver's license and ability to pass our insurer's driving standards.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Must have or be able to obtain a first aid/CPR certificate.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Work with Program Director to assess, develop and evaluate prevention programming throughout the county.
• Develop and manage relationships with schools and community-based organizations which will strengthen our program development.
• Responsible for outreach to local schools and community-based organizations for developing and scheduling prevention programming.
• Participate in County and State funding site reviews and annual reporting when determined applicable by Program Director.
• Provide and facilitate youth prevention programming at local schools and community-based organizations.
• Work with youth groups and one on one to move forward prevention work.
• Create non-traditional learning opportunities, such as a webinar or other computer-based presentation series for community members that are related to ATOD and problem gambling prevention.
• Provide and facilitate presentations to parent organizations, churches and other local entities to spread awareness of VOA prevention programming.
• Collaborate, coordinate, and develop relationships with other service providers in Multnomah County as appropriate.

Other Responsibilities:
• Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
• Supervise program volunteers as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility: Position is not responsible for supervision of other employees. Provides direction and guidance to volunteers.

Schedule: This is a full-time position; 40 hrs/week, Monday - Friday. This position will work some evenings and/or weekends as well.

May work occasionally in a professional office setting with moderate light and temperature at times.
