Position Summary:
Cranberry Township, Butler County, is seeking applicants for a full-time Codes Administrator position with the Planning and Development Services Department.
This position reports to the Development and Codes Services Manager.
The Township is accepting applications to fill one (1) Codes Administrator position (I or II) opening.
Applicants should review both openings as they will only be considered for the position they applied to and must meet the minimum qualifications for the applicable job posting.Cranberry Township is a growing residential and business community that is constantly striving to build connections between the local government and its residents and business owners.
The Codes Administrator position will serve as a point of contact to both the residents and business owners in the community.
Responsibilities for the Codes Administrator I position include:
the administration, review, approval and issuance of all residential building, sign and zoning permits and related licenses in compliance with Township regulations, codes and ordinances.
This position will also conduct residential building and zoning plan review, issuing permits, providing internal and external customer service and technical assistance as needed.
The person in this position will receive ongoing and thorough training opportunities to develop expertise.Necessary knowledge, skills and abilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Knowledge of:
Standard business operations, functions, departments, and servicesStandard customer service principles and practicesClerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office proceduresSkills:
Basic skills in data entry, typing and utilization of Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel)Skill in using mathematics required for the workGrowth mindset skillsAbilities:
Ability to learn common municipal planning codes and other applicable regulations and apply knowledge to explain same to the publicAbility to learn the practices, techniques and equipment used in building constructionAbility to learn general construction methods and materials and their placement in constructionAbility to learn applicable department / organization specific softwareAbility to manage multiple priorities to ensure that deadlines are met while maintaining close attention to detailAbility to manage a high volume of customer contacts from day to day with consistent politeness and professionalism and apply the Township s customer service standards and protocols to all interactionsAbility to and willingness to establish and maintain communication and working relationships with peers, representatives from other agencies, vendors, public officials, and the general public using courtesy, tact, and discretionPosition Requirements:
Required QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED; supplemented by at least six (6) months of personal or professional experience in a construction or building setting and at least six (6) months experience in utilizing technical hardware (e.g.
computers, tablets) and software (Microsoft Office programs).Applicants must have a valid Driver s License.Preferred Qualifications:
Associate s Degree in a related field supplemented by one (1) year of experience in construction, engineering or related field.The successful candidate shall be required to obtain the following PA UCC Residential Certifications within one year from the date of hire:
Residential Building Inspector, Residential Plumbing Inspector, Residential Mechanical Inspector and Residential Energy Inspector.
The successful candidate will also be expected to obtain the appropriate PA UCC Commercial Inspection certifications within three years from date of hire.
Applicants who have obtained any PA UCC Residential and Commercial Certifications preferred.Approximate Starting Hourly Wage:
$23.00-$24.00 plus our fringe benefits program, with additional increases associated with earning required PA UCC Residential and Commercial Certifications over an approximate two (2) to three (3) year period.Fringe benefits include, among other things, health, dental and vision benefits, and a generous deferred compensation plan.
