Overview
Element has an opportunity for a Mechanical Testing Technician (1st Shift) to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Mechanical Testing Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Prepares material specimens for testing
- Performs tests as directed by customer specifications
- At times operates under the supervision of a more senior test technician and/or a Department Manager
- Gathers and records test data
- Maintains a safe work environment
- Constructs and maintains various test fixtures and other laboratory equipment to ensure proper working order with little supervision
- Fatigue Testing - Perform Low and High Cycle fatigue testing under direction of senior technicians/department manager.
- Fatigue Crack Growth- Perform testing in accordance with ASTM E647.
- Fracture Mechanics Testing - Perform testing in accordance with ASTM E399, E561, and E1820.
- Monotonic Testing- Perform tensile, compression in accordance with ASTM E8, E9, and E21.
- Working knowledge of laboratory safety
- HS diploma or GED certificate preferred. College or vocational school coursework welcomed
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a testing related field
- Basic understanding of testing concepts
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus

lifting <50 lbs. often and >50 lbs. on occasion
