Position Summary:
The nursing department is looking for a Department Educator or Nursing Faculty to be a master teacher and preceptor for Care Management education. The successful applicant will coordinate care management orientation and professional development activities. As well as coordinating educational activities, they will also provide professional consultation for case management, professional practice, accreditation and licensure regulations. They will also explore professional knowledge, participate in research opportunities, and provide professional presentations. Adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures is a requirement for this role.
Detailed responsibilities:
- Enhance professional growth and development through educational programs, meeting and workshops, and reading of current literature
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to patient safety by identifying potential patient safety issues and reporting/correcting environmental conditions causing undue patient risk
- Provide educational leadership that enhances specialized patient care within clinical protocols
- Assist and educate patients and caregivers across the continuum of care with their educational needs, problem solving, and health management aspects
- Monitor trends and implement educational strategies to ensure quality standards and parameters are achieved, as well as identify the educational needs for both nurse and social work staff including peer support, new resources, programs, and quality issues
- Collaborate with Unit Director, Social Work Manager and RN Supervisors to plan and implement pertinent curricula. Provide clinical supervision, as required, for social work case managers
Qualifications:
- Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program with a BSN required within 36 months of position
- Current RN licensure in New Mexico
- Certification in Case Management (CCM or ACM-RN) or as RN-BC within 6 months
- CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers certification required within 30 days
- 2 years of directly related experience
Physical Conditions:
- Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work, requiring walking or standing and pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls. May require working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of materials is negligible.
Working conditions:
- Minor Hazard - physical risks, dirt, dust, fumes, noise. May be required to travel to various work sites
