Purpose of the Position
• Environmental Compliance with regulatory requirements and SSC related to water and tank programs
Principal Duties/Responsibilities of the Position
• Prepare permit applications in accordance with the State of Mississippi
• Prepare regulatory and contractual reports
• Facility storm water management and construction project storm water compliance
• Manage the SSC SPCC Plan in coordination with 40 CFR 112, as well as NASA Environmental
• Aboveground (AST) and underground (UST) tank programs oversight and coordination with O&M to ensure compliance
• SPCC program oversight and coordination with O&M to ensure compliance
• Direct drinking water treatment operators and associated compliance program
• Direct sanitary wastewater treatment operators and associated compliance program
• Support troubleshooting of wastewater operations
• Perform and document various inspections
• Conduct training classes associated with assigned media compliance
• Supporting engineering design and construction projects
• Conduct/support various audits and inspections and implement corrective action as necessary to ensure compliance
• Develops plans, procedures, reports, and other required technical documentation necessary for environmental program operations
• All other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or related scientific field
• 3-5 years environmental compliance experience
Other Requirements
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Special Knowledge and Skills Required
• Knowledge of the federal, state (Mississippi), and local environmental regulations
• 40-Hour HAZWOPER current certification a plus
• Water or Wastewater Operator Certification a plus
Physical Requirements
• Lift minimum of 30 pound load up from the ground frequently
• Walk six hours per day
• Walk up/down stairs frequently
• Climb ladders and scaffolding
• Wear PPE gear periodically (steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves)
• Tolerate extreme cold/heat for three hours continuously
