Job Roles & Responsibilities:
- Prepare all food items to standard recipes and as specified on guest check and following company and brand standards to ensure consistency of product and achieve high guest satisfaction.
- Prepare daily requisitions for supplies and food items for production.
- Visually inspect, select and use only food items of the highest standard in the preparation of all menu items.
- Check and control the proper storage of product using portion control to maintain quality product with minimum waste.
- Keep all refrigeration equipment and storage, working areas in clean working condition in order to comply with health department regulations.
- Good working knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation.
- Knowledgeable operation of all kitchen equipment (stoves, ovens, broilers, slicers, steamers, kettles, etc.)
- Must have knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service.
- Promptly report all maintenance issues.
- Properly receive and store food and other deliveries.
- Consult with kitchen management on a daily basis as well as with other departments directly related to the Food & Beverage Department.
- Participate in inventories.
- Perform other assignments as directed by supervisor.
- Must be able to think on your feet, make decisions confidently.
- Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, professional manner.
- Understand the hotel products and guest services.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and desire to be of service to others, provide back-up and support to other team members. Respond to guests and co-workers in a positive and optimistic manner.
- Possess a basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
- Ability to perform numerical operations using basic counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing
- Ability to read, comprehend and write simple instructions and/or short correspondence and memos
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy
- Ability to perform job function with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
- High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field.
- Willing and can work a varied schedule which may include mornings, evenings, nights, weekends & holidays.
- Must have Food Handlers card as required by city/county/state
