• Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building engineering systems and laboratory equipment on a scheduled basis and in accordance with regulatory and safety requirements.
• Inspects HVAC units for proper operation and performs adjustments as required.
• Resolves assigned work orders timely.
• Performs basic rough and finished carpentry work in construction and repair of structures.
• Performs basic electrical installation and repair work and checks the functionality of safety systems.
• Identifies and performs basic repairs of plumbing leaks or breaks. Cleans and inspects boilers and treats water with proper chemicals.
• Assists with unscheduled repairs/troubleshooting of building and laboratory equipment.
• Maintains grounds in clean and orderly manner including, but not limited to mowing trimming, weeding, planting etc.
• Assist in all phases of project work involving moving, remodeling and equipment installation.
• Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
• May need to respond to emergency calls after scheduled working hours, weekends, and holidays.
• May pick up parts and supplies at local vendors.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Technical Competencies:
Hours are M-F 830am-5pm
Principal Duties and Responsibilities

- High school diploma or GED required.
- Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or trade training preferred.
- At least 3 years related maintenance experience required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly exposed to a variety of livestock, domestic and laboratory animals, and is frequently exposed to wet conditions (non-weather) and toxic or caustic chemicals. The Associate is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including occasional extreme hot and extreme cold temperatures. The Associate may, on rare occasion, be exposed to fluoroscopy.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and frequently loud. Hearing protection is required in designated areas and when performing specific tasks.
- While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, and talk or hear. The Associate is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, use hands and fingers to operate equipment, use tools, and manipulate small objects. The Associate is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
