Summary :
CNAs provide essential help to registered nurses and doctors, who supervise their work as they Provide basic care and assistance to injured, sick or infirm patients.
In long-term care facilities, CNAs are often the main caregivers and contact points for residents.
CNA will report to the Nurse Manager/Supervisor of the Unit.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides personal care assistance to patients as directed: (bathing, grooming, feeding, and toileting).
Prepares resident for meals; serves and collects trays, assists in setting up and feeding residents/patients; serves fresh water and nourishments when indicated.
Helps residents with transferring and lifting, raising residents in beds and turning residents.
Obtains temperature on residents whose medical conditions warrant such monitoring.
Obtains urine samples, weights, intake/output.
Regularly checks on residents/patients, ensuring comfort, dignity and privacy.
Performs related Nurse Assistant duties as assigned for efficient unit operation.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Oral care, nail care, and basic hygiene.
Bathing and dressing of patient. Bathing may take place in the form of a bed bath, shower, or tub.
Relaying information to the next CNA on shift, or to the nurse's in charge.
Post mortem care.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited CNA program.
Must be licensed, certified or registered with the state.
Active AHA BLS Certification.
Evidence of 1 year of experience in the role of CNA.
