Responsibilities
- Under the general supervision and direction of the Chief of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery or designee, conduct a wide variety of patient care and related duties in support of SHG Surgeons.
- Position will function as first call for all emergency department consults with physician back-up primarily for Surgical Specialties.
- Conduct rounds as needed for Trauma and Acute Care Surgery patients.
- Assist in OR for trauma cases as necessary.
- Overnight APP coverage for SLH.
- Physician Assistant: bachelor's degree in a related field is required. Graduate of an A.M.A.-approved Physician Assistant program is required. Certification by the National Commission of Physician Assistants within one year of hire is required.
- Family Nurse Practitioner: Master of Science Degree in Nursing is required. Family Nurse Practitioner required to see patients of all ages. Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Nurse Practitioner is required. Current Massachusetts R.N. registration is required.
- Massachusetts Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant License is required.
- One year experience required.
- Surgical First Assistant required for Nurse Practitioner.
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) current certification required prior to start
- Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired.
