IT Specialist

Purpose of the Position
The IT Specialist is the face of the IT organization. They interact with end users daily to address needs, provide training, and assist where needed. Work alongside the Business Systems management team to ensure systems are delivered according to project requirements and specifications. The successful candidate will demonstrate accountability, flexibility, and adaptability to handle multiple changing priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities Daily interaction with end users supporting a variety of applications and hardware platforms.
Provide basic troubleshooting of computers, software applications, printers, etc.
Provides Administration of software applications (i.e. Maximo, EZMAXMobile).
Trains users in MAXIMO, EZMAXMOBILE, SharePoint and a variety of other applications including documentation of systems and their function.
Develops work instructions and knowledge articles for specific tasks or common IT procedures and processes.
Assists with administration of account accesses and permission levels.
Installs a variety of COTS applications and assists end users with system configurations.
Serve as primary site interface with other NASA IT contractors, IT support vendors, and end users to ensure business needs are met.
Manages elements of the current infrastructure to ensure high availability and optimal performance in an integrated environment.
When necessary, assist Infrastructure and Desktop Operations teams (WCS) with infrastructure deployment, configuration, and business continuity testing.
Applies information analysis to resolve infrastructure problems of all levels of complexity and risk.
Maintain knowledge of managed systems and environment thru self-study and other approved training opportunities.
Coordinating and oversight of ongoing assignments.
Physical requirements, involves average standing, sitting, walking or detail work.
Occasionally there may be risk of injury due to work environment hazards.
Primary work location is Michoud Assembly Facility, LA but may be required to travel to Stennis Space Center, MS
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or a related field.
Equivalent combination of experience, education and training will be considered.
Preferred Experience: CompTIA Security+ Certification Preferred.
Must be familiar with Microsoft Office 365.
Strong customer service focus to foster teamwork; ability to serve as a liaison between the IT department and other departments.
Experience working in team project environments that include internal and external customers.
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently on projects and tasks.
Able to manage multiple priorities and assess and adjust quickly as priorities change.
Independent critical thinking and problem-solving skills for identification of system problems and issue resolution.
Able to explain technical solutions to non-technical staff in a manner that can be easily understood.
Working Conditions Physical effort involving able average standing, sitting, walking or detail work.
Occasional risk of injury due to hazards.
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Dexterity to operate office equipment as required by the position.

Other Requirements Must be able to obtain required NASA badge.
Must have, and maintain, a valid driver's license.
Maintain System Administration elevated privileges in accordance with ITS-HBK-2810.1502-A NASA requirements.
Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
