Accounting Manager

General

Summary:

Manager of the

Accounting and

Finance department and

Plant

Controller functioning as the financial lead for the plant.

This position is responsible for the daily activity of the department ensuring control around the financial accounts in preparation for each monthly closing.

The

Manager leads the closing process, budget creation, forecasting, cost reduction reporting, and financial reporting for the plant.

Finally, the

Manager will generally have a staff comprised of at least two specialist and / or analysts depending on business needs.

Essential

Job

Functions:

A.

Manages the month-end closing to ensure financial statements are accurately stated in coordination with company policy and

G A A P.

B.

Verifies any

E R P modules and system sub-modules are interfacing correctly to the general ledger.

C.

Tracks all closing journal entries to ensure proper posting and reversal when needed.

D.

Leads review of the trial balance and account reconciliations to assure accounts represent real financial positions.

E.

Leads reporting financial results to the


Management team and

Corporate

Head

Office.

F.

Utilizes

Hyperion

Financial

Management software to consolidate reporting data.

G.

Coordinates collection of

K P I and statistical data with other departments in the plant.

H.

Leads cost improvement reporting in coordination with the other department leaders.


Prepares monthly budgets and distributes the results each month to department leaders.

J.

Has a general understanding of the key drivers behind the financial plan and monthly forecasts.

K.

Leads the annual planning and forecast initiatives.

L.

Prepares and reviews documentation for audits with the

Internal

Controls team and external auditors.

M.

Validates the perpetual inventory is reflective of all inventory transactions (i.e. shipping, receiving, transfers and scrap).

N.

Ensures bill of materials and standard costs are accurate and relevant to business conditions (i.e. annual cost roll, new products and engineering changes).

O.

Supports physical inventory events in coordination with the


Production

Control team.

P.

Ensures assets are tracked properly from tagging in-service purchases to disposition.

Q.

Monitors capital spending meets the plant's capital budget.

R.

Provides approval for plant purchases when authority is required.

S.

Supports plant senior management with ad-hoc requests.

Minimum

Qualifications/ Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in

Accounting,

Business

Administration, or related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Other professional certifications preferred.

Experience:

Greater than eight (8) years of relevant experience required.

Manufacturing/ Automotive setting experience preferred.
Greater than four (4) years of leadership experience as a supervisor in a professional environment required.

Personal/ Technical

Skills:

General understanding and working knowledge of basic accounting principles.
Proven business knowledge in corporate manufacturing.
Effective leadership and people skills while working in a diverse environment.
Active listener with effective communication skills.
Ability to lead projects with quick deadlines and short lead times.
Decision making using a standard problem resolution format.
Strong attention to detail.
Organization (5 S) and planning skills.
Demonstrated ability to present at multiple levels within an organization.
Basic math skills and analysis capability.
Strong customer service orientation with both internal and external customers.
Ability to create reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
Must be self-motivated, goal oriented and capable of working with minimal supervision.

Language


Strong verbal and written communication skills in

English.
Japanese,

Spanish, and/or

Portuguese would be helpful, but are not required.

Computer/ Software:

System experience ( Oracle,

Hyperion,

Kronos, and various

E R P systems preferred).
Requires high level of proficiency in

Environment/ Conditions:

Office:

Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level.

Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas.

Personal attire standards may apply.

Travel:

Must be willing to travel 0-10% of the time.

Physical

Demands:

Ability to sit and work on a computer for extensive periods of time is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear.

The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time and is occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds.

The ability to travel by automobile and airplane are both required.
