POST is looking for a Training Specialist responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating educational standards and course content for basic Law Enforcement/Peace Officer certification in the State of Idaho. Work will be performed in a team environment, requiring coordination with Curriculum team members, Training Coordinators, and Law Enforcement Subject Matter Experts.

This position is located in the Idaho Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST) Academy in Meridian.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

• Develop, distribute, and maintain POST curriculum standards.
• Analyze and evaluate curriculum in regards to IDAPA regulations, Job Task Analysis (JTA) findings, and class objectives.
• Conduct surveys for use in improving curriculum for future academies.
• Research and evaluate other state's POST training projects, programs and experiences.
• Display strong collaboration, written and verbal communication, and organizational skills working with a diverse group of internal and external individuals and groups.
• Assess and coordinate curriculum and training needs with other POST and law enforcement training personnel.
• Facilitate curriculum review including lesson plans, PowerPoints, test questions, and related materials to align with current training needs.
• Act as project manager for the curriculum development process to include; coordinating with instructors and subject matter experts (SME) to identify and develop lesson plans, Power Point presentations, and test question to meet standards established by POST.
• Provide assistance to POST Curriculum Manager, Academy Training Manager, Training Coordinators and instructors in order to identify and resolve curriculum and instructional issues.
• Submit appropriate curriculum update documentation for POST Council approval.
• Evaluate, edit, and create test questions to reflect current Academy content.
• Create and maintain exams for all Basic Academy Sessions.
• Analyze Exam validity and makes changes when needed.
• Update and maintain academy student handouts, instructor evaluations and curriculum database Maintain POST curriculum access for authorized users Archive all required curriculum documents.
• Coordinate processes for distance learning media updates.
• Assist with public records requests.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Good knowledge of training theory;
• Experience performing needs assessments, developing training objectives, designing and developing coursework and evaluating the training;
• Experience presenting training to adult groups in structured learning situations;
• Experience using a variety of training methods.
