Operations Supervisor - Weekend Coverage Required

What you will do:

The Operations Supervisor provides supervision in plant operations to provide servant leadership to their employees. This role oversees various operational functions and the operator team. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for ensuring Feed Safety/Food Safety by following all Safe Feed/Safe Food policies and protocols and taking immediate corrective action if safety issues arise.
• Member of the safety committee and plant leadership team, routinely attending coordination and meetings
• Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet goals
• Observe work, monitor equipment/processes to ensure operators follow standards
• Oversee movement of materials/products within the plant and order processing
• Maintain accurate records, logs, PIMS, and reports for day-to-day operations
• Read/analyze charts, orders, schedules to determine production requirements
• Monitor inventories and complete month-end activities
• Prepare records/reports for Plant Manager on production estimates/outputs
• Inspect materials, products, equipment to detect defects/malfunctions
• Work as a general operator throughout shift as needed (approx. 10%)
• Troubleshoot/problem-solve production and personnel issues
• Assist with investigations for customer issues and root cause analysis
• Monitor/evaluate operator performance, morale, conduct for compliance
• Oversee new and existing operator training programs
• Conduct coaching, mentoring and progressive discipline with operators
• Conduct routine safety inspections with EH&S manager
• Demonstrate company values in work interactions
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Whatexperience you will need:
• High school diploma or GED required; additional education preferred
• 2+ years supervisory experience in related industry
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service skills
• Ability to complete accurate records/logs, manage people, problem-solve
• Ability to follow instructions, basic math skills, efficient in working on a computer
• Ability to make sound judgments operating production equipment
• Valid Iowa driver's license, ability to obtain CDL (Des Moines)
• Ability to operate forklift, skid loader, and other equipment safely

•Pipe fitting, welding, air and electrical pump experience is preferred

•Knowledge of automation and process controls is a plus
