- Maintain the fleet of Tractors & Trailers at Explorers Transport
- Maintain the fleet at Clipper Petroleum and True North Energy Solutions
- Manage Parts Room & Re-orders
- Fleet Management
Daily view all Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) to schedule repairs or maintenance.
- If MVR has a write-up the foreman is responsible for scheduling the repair immediately with the mechanics.
- If the MVR does not have a write-up the foreman is responsible for documenting the mileage and filing. The mileage is used to schedule service (PM1 & PM2).
- Repairs
- Anything on the write-up that we can handle internally is scheduled and repaired before the drivers' next shift.
- Common repairs include (tires, brakes, minor damage, hoses, air bags, slack adjusters, lights, fluid levels, etc. ).
- Major repairs include (rear ends, transmission repair or replace, steering system, air system, brake system).
- Service
- Schedule service on equipment when drivers are off to limit down time
- PM 1 (Dry Service - No fluids changed) scheduled every 12,500 miles
- PM 2 (Wet Service - Fluids changed) scheduled every 25,000 miles
- Trailers get inspected every 60 days and serviced as needed during inspection
- Shop Management
Responsible for every aspect of the shop
- Maintaining a clean, organized & safe work environment
- Monitor parts room and re-order parts commonly used to have in stock
- Assign specific work areas for specific repairs
- Mechanics Management
Assign and monitor all work done by mechanics
- Train every mechanic to complete work with Explorers standard
- Assure all work is assigned to be completed in a timely manner
- Monitor the work for thoroughness
- Sign off on the completion of the work before the truck leaves the shop
- CDL Required
- HAZWHOPPER certified required
- Supervisory experience - 3 years
- Working knowledge of gas and diesel engines
- Intermediate-level computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated record of working collaboratively with other professionals.
