About This Career Opportunity
The Medical Research Specialist will carry out policy, scientific, and outreach activities related to the reduction and replacement of animals in biomedical research.

Assist in executing strategies to address animal methods bias and other barriers to broader uptake of nonanimal methods, including by conducting primary research and authoring peer-reviewed articles.
Lead advocacy efforts including crafting policy positions, public comments, and Congressional lobbying activities.
Draft accessible publications and manage media content to promote the advantages of human-based research.
Organize, attend, and present at educational events, workshops, and conferences to engage and train researchers in nonanimal research techniques.
Foster collaborations with federal agencies, scientific organizations, and advocacy groups to promote human-based research.
Represent the Physicians Committee as a spokesperson across various platforms, including to the NIH, the press, and the public.

Have an interest in science policy and research policy and familiarity with the basic functions of the NIH and Congress.
Be an excellent oral and written communicator.
Be willing to travel, present, and network to further our message and facilitate progress.
