We have an exciting opportunity for a Harvest Enologist Intern to join the Markham Vineyards Winemaking team for Harvest 2024.
We are seeking out an experienced and talented individual who is engaged in wine analysis and has the passion for creating high end wines.
This role is based in St Helena, California, and Markham Vineyards is a member of the Distinguished Vineyards & Wine Partners portfolio.
This role will work alongside the Markham Winemaking and Cellar teams to assist in all stages of wine production.
This is a seasonal (temporary), full-time non-exempt position participating in harvest from August 1st through October 31st, that reports to the Winemaker of the Textbook brand.
Qualifications:
BS in a Viticulture, Enology, Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field, or actively pursuingPrevious harvest experience preferred but not requiredTime management, teamwork, multitasking, and communication skillsAbility to lift and carry 50lbsAbility to work long hours and flexible daysMust be able to provide proof of U.S.
work authorization or obtain verified work visa by the date of hire.Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Follow all SOP s and Safety ProceduresEnsures proper safety in the lab and cellar are followedLab:
Collecting tank and barrel samplesFermentation Monitoring (brix, temp, RS & ML tracking)Processing and analysis on vineyard samplesData entry into VintraceAssist in set up of tastings and trialsSupport laboratory & winemaking staff as needed Crush Pad:
Certified Weigh MasterMonitor quality of incoming fruit, including Brix/Temp and tasting Cellar:
