Overview
Responsibilities
* Escorts patient and family to and from examination room.
* Explains exam to patient and family prior to the commencement of the test to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
* Acquires anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
* Maintains patient charts and records, and records/processes sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the procedure for presentation to the interpreting physician.
* Creates a preliminary report for physician review/signature.
* Reviews studies with physicians.
* Assists physician with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
* Codes appropriate for services performed.
* Maintains proper operation of the ultrasound equipment.
* Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action.
* Maintains laundry for examination rooms.
* Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies.
* Follows the accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two-dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode where applicable.
* Follows and complies with universal precautions and OSHA standards.
* Follows and complies with safety and security training.
* Rotates as needed to cover Sonographer absences.
* Performs related and other assigned duties as directed.
Qualifications
* Minimum six months experience as an ultrasound technician working in OB/GYN and/or MFM setting preferred.
* Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
* Skilled in operating ultrasound equipment.
* Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Requirements
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent.
* ARDMS OB/GYN certified or eligible
* Fetal echo certification or eligible to obtain with 12 months of hire. Fetal echo experience preferred or will be provided. Participates in staff development, in-service workshops, and educational activities. Participates in professional development activities and meetings.
* Completion of a program containing OB/GYN ultrasonography.
* CPR certification required.
* Satisfactory completion of one of the following; at least two (2) years in Allied Health Educational Program and one (1) year on-the-job- training in ultrasonography, or completion of an approved ultrasonography educational program.
* Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).
* Must provide evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements.

The expected pay for the position ranges from $36.78 - $62.02 per hour. The actual pay range will be computed based on years of relevant experience.
