Overview
Following established procedures and under general direction of the SVP, Chief Financial Officer, this position plans, organizes, and directs the financial planning reporting and analytics division in Finance.
This position will advise the SVP, Chief Financial Officer on a variety of matters pertaining to the management and operation of the Credit Union.
This position will be critical in assisting the executive management team in forming strategic goals of a growing Credit Union.
While maintaining accuracy in the preparation of financial statements, this role also provides development, direction, and guidance to Finance department personnel as well as the immediate oversight of the financial analysts.
Operational Accounting/Finance:
Develops the annual Operating Plan and oversees preparation of monthly financial statements.
Develops financial strategies, investment objectives, liquidity positions, capital adequacy, new business ventures, financial policies, and strategic plans.
Prepares financial reports including ALCO (Asset Liability Committee), ALM and ad-hoc reports.
Participates and contributes in Credit Union ALCO committee meetings.
Exercises discretion and independent decision-making to oversee the strategic financial planning and investing necessary to assist the growth of the credit union in a manner that supports the credit union s mission and increases the profitability of the organization.
Performs analysis of the firm s interest rate, credit, liquidity, and concentration risk exposures, ensuring that the credit union operates safely, soundly and within policy limits.
Ensures all financial statements, accounting and financial activities comply with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
Prepares studies, reports, and analyses in areas such as budgets, forecasts, financial plans, governmental requirements, statistical reports, cash flow projections, business forecasts, and variance analysis for executive and board-level decision-making.
Makes recommendations to the management regarding cost saving or profit generating opportunities and strategies.
Creates & maintains desktop procedures for financial modeling systems and critical tasks.
Prepares financial statements and commentary summarizing organization s current financial position.
Stay abreast of regulatory changes and share information as appropriate.
Attends seminars, industry events and community events in support of professional and business development.
Works with external auditors and government agency examiners to ensure the Credit Union is in compliance with GAAP, government regulations, and corporate policies/procedures.

Formulates and implements corrective actions as needed.
Other Responsibilities:
Follow record retention guidelines as published by regulatory agencies and federal and state record retention laws.
Adhere to company policy and procedure, complete annual compliance training, comply with business continuity and vendor management policy.
These are crucial to the success of the organization and have regulatory compliance and/or safety and soundness for the sustainability of the credit union.
Comply with all Anti Money Laundering laws such as the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and USA PATRIOT Act and all related policies and procedures including accurate Member/Customer Identification Program, member due diligence, accurate OFAC match processing, and reporting unusual activities and suspected fraud.
Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise finance staff.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor s degree (BS) or equivalent from a four-year college in Accounting and 8 - 12 years related experience in financial and operational accounting is required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of five years supervisory experience required.
Credit union or financial institution experience highly preferred.
Strong experience with financial systems.
TECHNOLOGY PROFICIENCY
To perform this job, the employee must possess applicable technology skills and demonstrated expertise.
Experience working with Microsoft Applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook along with analytical platforms such as PowerBI.
Advance working knowledge of Excel is required.
Ability to learn new applications quickly and general knowledge of network and database usage is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate, or other related professional certification, is preferred.

To perform this job, the employee must possess strong interpersonal skills, good phone and e-mail etiquette, a professional presentation, and a high degree of personal initiative.
