Summary

You will serve as an ENGINEER/SCIENTIST in the AEGIS ENTERPRISE ASSESSMENT DIVISION, PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT DEPARTMENT of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CTR CORONA DIV.

Duties

You will serve as the Performance Assessment (PA) Department's Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (ABMD) Warfare Area Technical High Grade (THG).

You will establish technical direction, strategic planning, and process improvement to provide relevant analytical information at speed to customers.

You will be recognized within the greater warfare systems community as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in regard to Aegis in the Ballistic Missile Defense Systems analysis and assessment.

You will maintain alignment with technical leadership across the department and WC community in order to provide system and systems of systems ABMD performance assessment.

You will include analysis and reporting for emergent technology, knowledge management, and make recommendations for succession planning relative to Sea Based Ballistic Missile Defense Combat System performance assessment.

You will advise leadership on resource management, goal setting and team building to effectively engage scientists, engineers and technicians to achieve the position's responsibilities.

You will propose strategies and approaches to support the development of Performance Assessment (PA) Department's analysis and assessment capability that align to the Department Mission and Vision, as well as Command goals and strategic initiatives.

You will lead and support the development and sustainment of the Department's Ballistic Missile Defense Systems technical capability and capacity to provide analysis and assessments.

This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-12/13 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional Engineer or Scientist conducting system analysis and assessments using programming languages (e.g. Python) to develop and implement technical support plans and processes for combat and missile systems programs.

For the 0801 Engineering Series:

Successful completion of a bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position; or

Successful completion of a combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
