This Patient Account Rep 2 - Insurance Authorizationposition is located in our Patient Financial Department.
Hours:
This is a 40 hour per week benefited position, Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.
Starting Salary:
$25.81 - $36.54/hr and up, Rate of pay quoted is for less than one year up to 30 years of experience. The higher rate of pay is for more years of experience. PLUS shift differentials where applicable.
What you'll do:
- Under the general direction of their supervisor, the Insurance Verification Representative verifies all the information necessary to properly submit clean claims to Medicaid, Medicare, Veterans Administration, and Commercial Insurance.
- Make sure the proper information was captured during the registration process.
- Reviews all accounts on a daily basis to gather sufficient financial data to expedite processing for prompt payment of claims or self pay accounts.
- The Insurance Verification Representative will verify insurance and obtain any prior authorizations needed to process prompt payment of claims.
- Counsel self pay patients in matters of monthly payment agreements or initiate financial assistance application.
- Be able to communicate effectively and pleasantly both over the phone and in person.
- Requires the minimum of a high school diploma
- Two to three years of experience in computerized hospital patient accounts is preferred.
- Be able to operate such general office machines as a computer, adding machine by touch, photocopier, FAX and multi-line switchboard phone system.
- This position must present a professional appearance, deal courteously and respectfully with patients, be able to learn and follow established departmental policies, be able to perform work with attention to detail, be able to maintain accurate records and be able to contribute to a pleasant, positive working environment.
