Sigma Healthcare team is currently looking for a Medical Technologist to work onsite in Bethel, AK.
Shift Information: Variable - 8 hour shifts, days evenings, or nights
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the laboratory manager, is responsible for performing laboratory tests, quality control procedures and communication with physicians, nurses and patients.
Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, performs the tests ordered in the specific laboratory section(s) as assigned. Sections include chemistry, hematology, transfusion service, and microbiology.
Access to coordinator or other professional personnel is required.
May assist CLA's and other technical team.
Other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Medical Technology or a related filed required. Must be board eligible by NCA or ASCP and complete board certification within one year of employment.
One to three years of related or progressively more responsible experience in chemistry, blood bank, hematology and microbiology or formal student internship.
Certification at MT by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or CLS by National Accrediting Agency (NCA) within one year of employment.
Generalist, must be proficient in all lab areas including blood bank. Able to work independently. Needs to have a bs in a physical science.
Must be capable of working independently and providing direction to Medical Laboratory Assistants.
