Senior Firefighter at NZ Defence Force, Manawatu-Whanganui Mo te tunga | About the role This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a role that will focus your skills into the area of aviation rescue and firefighting.Responding to emergency incidents/ accidents at RNZAF Base Ohakea (including the airfield) and preserving life and assets will be paramount.Alongside this you will have opportunities to be involved in a range of exercises and events that are unique to working within a military aviation environment.
It's important you can work rostered shifts and you will be well compensated with a salary loading payment.
As firefighting is not without its challenges, you will be highly resilient, adaptable to changing situations, able to think clearly and respond effectively under pressure.
You will havea strong understanding of Domestic / Industrial firefighting and be capable of leading team members during routine tasks unsupervised when required.
You will also have:

Considerable experience responding to fire and non-fire related emergencies.A sound understanding of the New Zealand Coordinated Incident Management System.Ability to communicate confidently with a wide range of people and build sustainable professional relationships with ease.The necessary firefighter training (FENZ Senior Fire Fighter or equivalent), FENZ Emergency Response Driver qualified.A full class 2 drivers licence that you've held for at least six months, however a class 4 licence is desirable.We are looking for strong team players who enjoy being part of a professional, friendly and collaborative team.
As part of our emergency response service, travel to other locations within NZ will be required at times.

Youmustbe a New Zealand citizenoryou must hold New Zealand Permanent Residenceorhave a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.At minimum, youmusthold New Zealand Permanent Residenceorhave a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa,andyou must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.Youmusthave a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.If you do not meet the minimum criteria, unfortunately, your application will not be accepted.
