About the Role:
A vacancy now exists for the position of Head of Bank and Country, part of the wider Treasury Credit team within the Treasury function.
The successful candidate will lead the team responsible for the credit management of all AIB Group Bank & Country credit exposures, the large majority of which arises from the banks ongoing Treasury activities.
The roleholder will drive customer standards and service levels across the portfolio, have a proven track record of managing a high performing team of portfolio managers, assess new business requests and monitor portfolio risk throughout the credit lifecycle, ensure governance and assurance standards are to the highest level with exceptional standards of risk management and risk culture.
The successful candidate will also represent Treasury as Business Lead on the IRB Enterprise Programme, accountable for two Tier 1 Treasury owned IRB models, responsible for ensuring key engagement with senior stakeholders (IRB Programme/Model Development/Model Validation) ensuring they are regulatory compliant, capital efficient and fit for current and future business purposes.
As an important member of the senior leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading out and developing strategy across and the credit portfolio and IRB activities having a close working relationship with all Treasury teams and senior stakeholders across all AIB businesses and Group supports (Credit and Enterprise Risk).
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Be accountable to the Head of Treasury Credit, responsible for robust credit management in terms of origination of exposure and ongoing credit management of all sovereign and bank counterparty limits.
- Leadership of a team of credit professionals, responsible for maintenance of quality of written output and credit committee presentations across the team to ensure credit committees are best positioned to facilitate informed credit decisioning.
- Providing strategic guidance and input in terms of communicating credit risk appetite for the Treasury Bank and Sovereign portfolios reflecting current market conditions.
Responsible for ensuring the incorporation of 2nd line feedback obtained as part of regular interaction - escalating resultant policy and appetite challenges depending on sector/product developments. - Driving and enabling a change ready environment within the team to support transformation initiatives and process enhancements.
- Compliance with AIB's Risk Management Framework and relevant Risk Policies, Frameworks and Procedures.
- Drives the continuous development of process improvement, portfolio insight and efficiency within the business.
- Responsible for identifying market changes and future trends as the portfolio's evolve including changes to regulation and potential threats to the credit quality of the portfolios.
- Leads high engagement levels across the unit.
Develops and motivates the team to consistently deliver results and build and implement a people strategy to attract, retain and develop people within the unit.
What you will bring:
- Strong level of credit skills and relevant experience with some specific knowledge and understanding of Country and Bank risk dynamics and international banking markets.
- Minimum of 8 years financial services experience in credit risk management in a Treasury/ Wholesale Banking or similar environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to engage with senior stakeholders in impacted business areas, building effective relationships without compromising independence.
- Understanding key risks associated with the banking industry and sovereign economic and political environments across the Eurozone and Globally.
- Evidence of prior management experience/leadership skills.
