WPS team is responsible for the full lifecycle of planning, execution, procurement and operations of Haleon's real estate portfolio consisting of complex R&D facilities, office buildings, and sales office sites.
The sites may be owned, leased or be occupied through a serviced space arrangement.
WPS works in close collaboration with our Global Support Function partners (Tech, HR, EHS, Legal etc) and relies extensively on our network of vendor partners to deliver a safe, productive and desirable work environment for all users of our sites.

Role Overview
The role of the Director of R&D Sites, Workplace Solutions is to provide proactive oversight and management of all facility operations, engineering and other services & projects at Haleon's R&D sites in Weybridge (UK) and Richmond (Virginia, USA); to act as the principal owner for Workplace Solutions activities; and to be the principal contact for senior stakeholders.
The incumbent will be responsible for managing a dedicated team across the R&D sites and works closely with others in WPS, Haleon, and various external service providers.
In addition, the role works closely with others in R&D and EHS to ensure all appropriate, health, safety and compliance processes are met.
The role will form part of the Workplace Solutions Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities
This is a high impact, complex role with significant scope that spans across multiple functional areas and suppliers.
Business partnering & stakeholder management in Haleon:
- Build strategic relationships with senior Haleon R&D stakeholders to understand business requirements, identify opportunities to create value and to position WPS's value proposition.
- Work with key stakeholders and business partners to support operational management and 'future-proofing' for R&D sites.
- Partner with R&D, EHS and other Haleon functions to ensure ongoing responsibilities are met for various Duty Holder roles managing high severity risks, as well as other EHS and engineering risks.
Strategy execution:
- Align with the broader Haleon team and R&D, to work in collaboration and to provide local business requirements and market information for a ycohesive business and employee experience.
- Develop and execute strategies and projects aligned with the requirements of stakeholders, business partners and regulatory compliance bodies.
- Bring in best-in-class technical expertise to identify, develop and grow a diverse professional team of best suited 3rd party providers accountable for the delivery of a world-class end-to-end operations for the sites.
- Ensure readiness for on-boarding of other sites as and when required and that appropriate management and governance is in place to scale.
Drive operational efficiency:
- Challenge requirements and educate stakeholder to drive maximum contract and policy compliance, employee experience and strategy alignment
- Drive operational efficiencies across R&D areas and processes in scope
- Be responsible for planning, budgeting and driving cost efficiencies.
External supplier relationships:
- Manage all external partners responsible for site operations, engineering and capital projects.
- Build strategic relationships with key regional/local suppliers at a senior level and lead processes to ensure value is driven from these relationships.
- Ensure local considerations are accounted for in both global & regional supplier relationships.
- Ensure site-specific considerations are taken into account in global supplier negotiations and contracts.
- Develop and Implement Operational excellence strategies and plans for key regional/local suppliers to drive improvements against KPIs.

Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum Level of EducationRequired:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technical or Science-related degree, required
Preferred Level of Education:
Master's Degree or other advanced relevant qualifications
Area of Specialization:
Engineering, Operations and Critical Environments, Procurement, Business, Finance, Supply Chain, and Stakeholder Management.
Job Related Experience:
- Preferred 10+ years of leadership experience with a large comparable company and proven record of management of complex R&D or other scientific facilities, preferably including GxP or other Critical Environment facilities.
- Demonstrated programme management capabilities and decision making proficiency.
- Proven competency in one or more risk management specializations:
Process Safety Machinery Safety, Electrical Safety, Hazardous Utilities and Chemical Agents. - Experience and knowledge of the Research & Development process and understands relevant requirements.
- Experience with and thorough understanding of statutory legislation and policy compliance responsibilities in a technically complex environment.
- Understanding of legal, compliance and regulatory frameworks
- Delivery focused and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Experience with establishing strong working relationships with key external partners to deliver appropriate site services in agreement with established contracts.
- Strong stakeholder relationship management and communication skills.
- Strong business and financial acumen.
