We are the world's trusted infrastructure consulting firm, partnering with clients to solve the world's most complex challenges and build legacies for future generations.
There has never been a better time to be at AECOM. With accelerating infrastructure investment worldwide, our services are in great demand. We invite you to bring your bold ideas and big dreams and become part of a global team of nearly 50,000 planners, designers, engineers, scientists, digital innovators, program and construction managers and other professionals delivering projects that create a positive and tangible impact around the world.
We're one global team driven by our common purpose to deliver a better world. Join us.
What your new role will entail;
Our thriving Water Engineering business in England & Wales is looking for Lead Design Engineers/Managers to join our growing teams within our Exeter, Bristol, Cardiff, St Albans, Croydon, Basingstoke, Birmingham, Chesterfield and Leeds offices. Our Water Team is involved in high profile, industry leading infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas. We are working on a variety of significant projects directly for water companies, contractors and government entities including potable water networks of all scales, and at all stages of the design and construction process, from feasibility, through design to operation, maintenance, and asset management.
This role represents a great opportunity to develop your career as a technical project leader, delivering solutions on a diverse range of projects that meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Lead: Technical delivery of water mains rehabilitation, network reinforcement and pressure management schemes, managing multi-disciplinary technical teams to deliver value added solutions to client challenges throughout the design lifecycle
Manage: Manage key packages of work from conception to handover, interfacing with AECOM teams, clients and suppliers to create a seamless technical solution
Collaborate: With client and AECOM counterparts to ensure stakeholder buy in to solutions, also contributing to AECOM's wider technical capability and innovative approach
Develop: Undertake line manager duties for a number of staff and support the development of junior members of the team, managing their input to projects and mentoring them.
Being part of the team;
The Water Team brings together the skills of project managers, hydrologists, water scientists, numerical modellers and civil, electrical, process and mechanical engineers. We do this to provide integrated, sustainable and cost-effective solutions. Our work ranges from high profile infrastructure schemes through to locally significant projects that make a real difference to communities. We work with a large number of the water companies in the UK, private clients, and government entities. We also work on a number of very high profile and prestigious projects overseas from our UK offices.
You will be joining a dynamic local team of high performing Engineers ranging in experience from Apprentice to Director level, within a larger national Water Engineering Team. You will have the opportunity to mentor and direct junior members of the team through technical leadership, line management and supporting them within development training agreements. Prospects to grow and improve project and client management, as well as technical excellence are on offer as well as excellent opportunities for career progression and development.
Qualifications
Here's what we will need from you;
Experience in managing the technical delivery of water mains rehabilitation, network reinforcement and pressure management projects
Strong collaboration and coordination skills between teams, clients and stakeholders
Commercial awareness with experience in monitoring and control of engineering budgets
Passion for delivering technical solutions and leading technical teams
A degree or equivalent in a related engineering subject (e.g. civil, mechanical) and/or equivalent experience
Chartered or Incorporated with a relevant institution e.g. ICE, CIWEM or working towards it.
Experience of undertaking feasibility studies, options appraisal and concept design, and/or outline and detailed design for water company clients and design and build contractors.
