The Automation Developer is integral to the success of the Technology & IT Services Management team, and to CAAT's guiding mission and growth strategy.
The Automation Developer will support the development and operation of CAAT's process automation framework.
This role will work with business and technical teams to map full automation life cycles from conception to implementation and maintenance of developed automated solutions.
The Automation Developer will act as a key driver for the goals of driving efficiency, building capacity by optimizing existing processes, and creating new processes while ensuring business requirements are effectively addressed.
We are looking for someone with:
- A university degree or college diploma in a computer science or related field
- A minimum of four (4) years of work experience in software development using programming languages such as C#, Python, JavaScript or similar languages in a fast-paced environment
- Three (3) years of experience in business process analysis, specifically business process engineering, workflows, and automation
- Strong hands-on experience in process automation and process optimization
- Experience working with relational databases like Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database, and PostgreSQL
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Problem solving, with strong analytical skills plus the ability to analyze complex requirements and define technical/functional advanced solutions
- Knowledge of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) or other automation tools (e.g.
Microsoft Power Platform, ServiceNow RPA Hub) - ServiceNow development experience (Workflows, custom widgets, Scripted REST APIs, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (e.g.
chatbot creation) - Excellent document management, code migration, and defect resolution skills
- Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal.
Be able to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences
Once here you will:
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to define potential processes for automation
- Engage with business stakeholders to assess the productivity gains from automation, calculate financial impact, and determine return on investment
- Manage existing process definitions, suggest business process re-engineering through business process automation, and generate use cases accordingly
- Design, develop, test, and implement automation solutions
- Generate and update solution documents, including technical designs, release notes, and operational run books, to build a comprehensive technical documentation repository
- Develop proof of concepts to demonstrate suitable solutions, define and implement new process strategies, and break down complex systems into core components to comprehend their functionalities and interactions
- Review automation outputs, recommend optimizations for success, and follow IT protocols and procedures per best practices
- Work closely with IT security to ensure the highest standards of product security are achieved
