Timmins and Area Womenin Crisis (TAWC) is a dynamic,community-based feminist organization, which provides services on intimatepartner abuse and sexual violence to women and their children in the Timminsarea.TAWC works within an integrated feminist, anti-racist, anti-oppressionframework. The agency administersa sexual assault centre, an emergency shelter as well as second stage housingto abused women and their children.
We are looking for adynamic and highly motivated woman to join our team in the capacity offull-time Finance Assistant . The Finance Assistant is responsibleto provide financial and administrative support to the leadership team for the oversight of the financial components withinthe sexual assault centre, emergency shelter and second stage housing.
The ideal candidates will demonstrate the following:
Qualifications:
• 2-Year Diploma in Business/BusinessAccounting (would be an asset)
• 2 years of relevant experience (would be an asset)
• Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial record
• Good understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable principles
• Demonstrated advance proficiency inMicrosoft Office
• Attention to detail and high level ofaccuracy
• Very strong written and verbalcommunication skills
• Sound judgment, problem solving andorganizational skills
• An understanding of violence againstwomen work/women's issues
• Must undergo a criminal record check
Main Responsibilities:
• Keep current with the computerized financial system
• Enter all cash receipts (e.g., Donations, etc.) as per Financial Policies and Procedures.
• Produce financial reports as required
• Process outgoing payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
• Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and
recording accounts payable data
• Reconcile the accounts payable ledger to ensure that all bills and payments are
accounted for and properly posted
• Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and
monthly vendor statements
• Prepare deposits with all supporting documentation.
Hours of Work: 35 hours perweek
