The Centre of Realty Excellence Unit and the Realty Policy Unit are searching for talented professionals to fill our Senior Policy Advisor positions. Your expertise and advice will play a pivotal role at the forefront of planning and developing strategies, policies, and programs that will drive the Government of Ontario's realty portfolio forward. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead, coordinate, and participate in the analysis and formulation of policies that drive the transformation of Ontario's government real estate landscape. This role offers a dynamic and impactful opportunity to influence policy, collaborate with stakeholders, and contribute to the effective operation of the Ministry in pursuit of its mission and objectives.
Effective April 1, 2024 the salary range for this position is $82,217 to $121,155 per year in compliance with AMAPCEO collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to April 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

What can I expect to do in this role?
Policy/Program Development:Initiating Policy and Program Development: You will contribute to the planning, prioritizing, and coordination of policy and program development initiatives.
Research and Analysis:
Conduct comprehensive research and analysis, encompassing risk assessment and stakeholder consultations.
Cabinet Submissions and Legislation:
Coordinate or prepare Cabinet submissions, position papers, and legislation related to proposed legislative, regulatory, or policy changes. Ensure that these submissions align with the Ministry's objectives and priorities.
Consultation and Advice:
Consultative Policy Advice: Provide client service support to Ministry divisions/branches and sector agencies by offering expertise and advice to identify and resolve policy/program-related issues. Assist in the development and implementation of consultation, negotiation, and partnership strategies.
Stakeholder Relations/Committee Work:
Stakeholder Consultations: Lead or support internal and/or external stakeholder consultations concerning policy and legislative initiatives. Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external partners.
How do I qualify?
Policy and Program Development
• You have experience with policy and legislative processes• You have experience with program development and implementation
• You have experience in using policy and research tools, methods and techniques
• You can identify and evaluate the impact and risk of proposed new or changed policy/ programs
Research, Evaluation and Analysis
• You demonstrate sound judgment, sensitivity and a high degree of political acuity• You can assess the effectiveness of policies/programs against Ministry initiatives and goals
• You can interpret and apply policy, procedures and legislation
Leadership and Project Management
• You have experience providing leadership in program/policy development, delivery and implementation• You can lead projects from initial concept through completion within specific timelines
• You can provide project leadership and advice to an assigned team of professionals
Relationship Management and Facilitation
• You have expertise in creating and managing complex stakeholder relationships• You can work collaboratively to resolve issues, negotiate changes and shifts in priorities
• You can lead consultations with stakeholders ensuring a shared understanding
Communication
• You can respond to issues, provide recommendations and prepare reports using standard computer software• You can create, lead and present briefings on complex issues analysis to senior management
