We are an innovative and entrepreneurial insurance brokerage and employee benefits consulting firm based in Toronto with offices in Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary.
We have an exciting opportunity in our growing Toronto office for a broker on our General Industries team (strictly Commercial Broker).

Role Description

As a broker, a typical day might include the following:

  • Providing superior client service and account management;
  • Coordinating the issuance of Invoices and ensuring they are sent to clients in a timely manner, including premium and tax allocations and offering premium finance quotes (if applicable);
  • Monitoring the collection of receivables;
  • Coordinating the issuance of Auto Liability Pink Slips/Cards and Certificates of Insurance (on demand and upon renewal);
  • Developing and communicating an understanding of a client's business by conducting research and analyzing client's operations;
  • Assisting with client coverage questions, managing account concerns or issues encountered and successfully addressing small to complex problems in a timely manner by applying judgement as to when and what to escalate up to senior colleagues;
  • Interacting regularly with clients and underwriters and building relationships with professional counterparts at client and insurance company organizations;
  • Compliance with company workflows including inputting new clients in the broker management system, maintaining proper records for reporting and auditing purposes and ensuring all client records are uploaded to our system (EPIC) and shared drive (policies, submissions, proposals, quotations, correspondence, emails, etc.);
  • Processing policy amendments/changes and cancellations and maintain abeyance system to keep track of follows ups, including following up for policy documents, endorsements, etc.
    and following up with insurance companies for quotations, etc.;
  • Reviewing all insurance documents to ensure they are current and for accuracy;
  • Preparing key insurance documents, including Broker of Record letters, Underwriting Submissions, Quote Comparison Reviews, Pre and Post-Renewal Reports/Placemats, Binders, Policy Reviews (1 st reviews) and Summary of Insurance;
  • Managing day-to-day aspects for designated accounts and conducting ensuing account management tasks including generating and coordinating calendars and timelines, liaising between internal senior professionals and business accounts, and representing the business to ensure superior client service and account management;
  • Preparing renewal files for Client Executives 90+ days prior to renewal, which includes requesting loss runs and required information;
  • Supporting market placement;
  • Assisting with client proposals/reports, analysis and presentations as required (including printing, cerlox binding, etc.)
  • Reviewing and commenting on insurance contract sections and indemnity provisions;
  • Supporting senior brokers and client executives on day to day account services and senior level colleagues to enable them to focus on growth efforts; and
  • Managing other duties as assigned.

This job might be right for you if you:

  • Have 2 to 5 years of insurance brokering or underwriting experience;
  • Possess a valid RIBO (Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario) License;
  • Are committed to exceeding client service expectations;
  • Have experience with broker management systems (i.e., EPIC) and Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint);
  • Can successfully manage the pressure of deadlines and multiple priorities;
  • Are focused and motivated to execute your responsibilities in an efficient, accurate, complete and timely manner;
  • Have attention to detail and excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills;
  • Are a driven and enthusiastic learner who's always looking to improve and develop; and
  • Enjoy collaborating and working closely with teams.
