The Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation sets the strategic direction and oversees the administration of the University of Ottawa's research enterprise, including funding, equipment and facilities, international collaborations, partnerships and business development.
Position purpose:
Supports the planning and management of events and social media that target community outreach, strategic corporate relationships, students, the academic sector and alumni and donor engagement to ensure these are managed in a manner that is consistent with the University of Ottawa Kanata North campus' standards and that they sustain the institute's reputation and fundraising efforts.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Supports the communications strategy, including planning and implementation of newsletters, campus' regular updates, social media and other initiatives as assigned by the Director, Innovation and Partnerships (Kanata North).
- Responsible for the delivery of concurrent projects on time, on budget and on strategy in a manner that is consistent with the University of Ottawa Kanata North campus' reputational goals.
- Creates the communication strategy for each event including updating websites, creating event registration, posters, and other marketing material to ensure each activity is promoted to the maximum number of people and to ensure a strong attendance at each event
- Monitors and reports on outreach/awareness milestones and achievements for each project. Prepares final reports, debriefing notes and follow-up evaluations after each project to ensure that each one achieved the desired objectives and to benefit from any "lessons learned" for the next project.
- Supports the floor manager during functions:
directs guests and seating arrangements and manages staff including volunteers, caterers, audio-visual providers, equipment suppliers, facilities staff, entertainers and security staff. - Attends and supports events as required and troubleshoots problems (logistics) to ensure that each event achieves its desired objective both from a public relations and financial outcome point of view.
- Performs a variety of activities including:
requisition and maintenance of members lists, central database maintenance, thank you and appointment letters, data management, records keeping, information and materials gathering, coordination of development related website updates in order to support the communications strategy.
- Post-secondary diploma in the field of marketing, event management, fundraising or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the management of high-profile public events preferably in a business school environment.
- Experience in project management including the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
- Ability to formulate creative solutions and to analyze, evaluate and negotiate.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Sound judgment when dealing with a diverse clientele.
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Dependability
- Experience in using computer systems and various applications (MS Office, Adobe products, etc.)
- Ability to work outside of regular hours and overtime during peak periods
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Bilingualism - English and French, spoken and written.
