Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor, the Maintenance Repairperson is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks as required. The purpose of the position is to assist with the Facilities Department with general maintenance, grounds maintenance, safety, and the quality appearance of campus for students, staff and faculty in the Academic, Administrative and Residence buildings.
Hours of work: Full-Time (40 hours per week); Mon-Fri 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Term: Permanent
Classification/Level: Band 1
Salary Range: $36,285 -$50,020 (July 1, 2024)
Closing Date: Tuesday, July 2, 2024
Qualifications
High school diploma (grade 12) or GED;
1 - 2 years of experience in facilities maintenance;
Knowledge and experience using a variety of different types of tools;
Experience using power equipment (mowers, electric clippers, snow blowers);
Basic carpentry skills;
Basic crack filling and painting skills;
Ability to organize, complete work assignments and work independently;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to exercise good tact and judgment.
Basic computer skills for use of email, internet and work order software.
Working Conditions:
Necessity to work outside in inclement weather;
Attention to detail required;
Overtime will be required from time to time;
Reporting to work from time to time for call backs is required;
Some heavy lifting will be required;
Necessity to work as a member of a dedicated maintenance team.

Responsibilities

Assists service contractors (ex. UNB Facilities Management) with maintenance and/or projects.
Assists and performs snow removal in winter months;
Assists and performs landscaping duties such as spring cleanup, placing mulch, mowing and trimming.
Performs a variety of tasks related to the set up for all University events such as book launches, student events, open house, political events, fund raisers, formal dinners, convocations etc.
Performs office renovations, moves and assembles furniture;
Attends training sessions as may be required from time to time.
