Currently Consus Management Ltd. is seeking a Forest Professional/Technician to work in both its Forestry and Utility Departments. This position will be primarily based out of our Vernon Office, with an expectation of fieldwork and occasional camp shifts.
Main duties within our Forestry Department will include:
- Cutblock and road layout/design.
- Forest development assessments.
- Timber cruising and compilation.
- Preparing appraisal packages.
- Fuel management prescriptions.
- Data collection and preparation of site plans and related assessments.
- Road deactivation prescriptions and /or assessments.
- Full phase development and planning for various tenure holders.
- Managing and completing all BC Hydro line inspections within the Okanagan region, as directed by BC Hydro representatives.
- Providing field support to other areas/ projects across the province, when needed.
- Working with BC Hydro representatives, stakeholders, civil crews, and other team members to fulfill a variety of tasks related to BC Hydro line upgrades and inventory.
- Road reactivation assessments/ prescriptions.
- Bird surveys and other related environmental assessments.
- Project and crew supervision.
- Minimum 3 years (intermediate) or 5 years (senior) experience in timber development activities.
- Experience as crew leader and/or supervising crews and mentoring junior field staff.
- Registered or eligible for registration with Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC) as a RFT or RPF, preferred.
- Willingness to work both in the field and complete associated office work.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in forestry or related field.
- Possession of a valid BC Driver's License.
- Physically fit to endure fieldwork in all conditions.
- Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised.
- Experienced with the use of 4x4 trucks, quads and sleds.
- Working knowledge of applicable Legislation and Regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
