Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Quarry Manager to join our Cement team at our Cadomin, AB location. This role reports directly to the Edmonton Cement Plant Manager and is responsible for managing all mining activities associated with the quarry operations in accordance with Company policies to insure the most efficient and safe mining operations.
What You'll Get To Do:
Manage the quarry in all areas including production, maintenance, and quality control in a cost-effective manner.
Develop and execute goals and objectives for the quarry.
Sustain an optimal supply of raw material to the Edmonton cement plant.
Assess current reserves and develop short- and long-range mining plans.
Ensure reliability and performance of the mobile equipment.
Develop and execute capital projects.
Ensure compliance with environmental standards and government regulations related to permitting and reclamation.
Administer the Collective Bargaining Agreement and Company policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Company guidelines, performing training, monitoring compliance, etc.
Proactively manage health & safety of employees to continuously improve the company's health & safety performance.
Essential Experience and Skills:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university related to mining or quarrying or related experience
Minimum of three (3) years of experience operating a 1 million ton/year quarry or greater with multiple shift crews
Experience with underground mining is required as this will be required for strategy and development of the mine plan
Ability to manage a mining operation in challenging geology which requires detailed monitoring and selective mining on a daily basis
Prior experience managing and supervising staff is required
Ability to read, to analyze, and to interpret geological maps, common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to effectively present information to plant management
Ability to develop and execute mining plan based on the production forecast
Ability to complete GPS surveys and analyze data with AutoCAD and mine planning software
Strong leadership and communication skills
Role operates primarily at manufacturing location where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, dust, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels.
