The Role
Our mining team is expanding, and we are currently seeking an experienced Drill and Blast Engineer at Mt Holland. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will be responsible for drill and blast design and strategic planning activities for mining operations, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery in accordance with mine plans.
These are permanent, full-time positions on an 8:6 roster ex Perth to Mt Holland.
Key Responsibilities
Actively lead and participate in the establishment of a health and safety culture, leading by example, and setting the required health and safety standards.
Strategic planning and optimisation of Drill and Blast activities & Blast reconciliations.
Monitor and report compliance to Drill and Blast Standards, Drill pattern design.
Provide advice to production personnel on the required drill and blasting needs.
Coordination and review of QA/QC, including the use of blast vibration monitoring, fragmentation analysis, post blast video assessment, and other technologies.
Minimise dilution and ore loss from blasting.
Provide input into relevant budget and expenditure.
Support and coach team members, managers, and employees.
Role Requirements
5 years' experience working in mining operations.
Degree qualified in Mining Engineering
Previous experience in Drill and blast experience, preferably in a Hard Rock Open Cut mining environment. (Advanced blast design, including the use of electronic detonating systems preferred)
Experience managing mining and continuous improvement projects.
Experience with blasting software in addition to MS Office software including Excel and Project (Experience with Shotplus, OrePro or similar is advantageous)
