If you answered yes, our Whiteshell Laboratories (WL) site located near Pinawa, Manitoba is looking for a Mechanical Engineer - onsite. WL Engineering provides engineering design, procurement and construction services to the WL site. The Mechanical Engineer designs (conceptual, preliminary and detailed designs), supervises construction and monitoring of new process and mechanical systems. The work also involves the design of retrofits and modifications to existing facilities and systems. Does this peek your interest? If you answered yes, then this may be the job for you!
What will you be doing?
• Preparation or reviewing of appropriate documentation in support of projects (e.g design plans, concept reports, design requirements, design manuals, technical specifications, technical notes, customer proposals, work plans, tender documents, schedules and estimates.)
• Managing project resources (i.e., contractors, technical staff) to meet or exceed applicable quality, code, regulatory and customer requirements.
• Ensuring work within their responsibility is performed to meet or exceed applicable quality, code, regulatory and customer requirements.
• Maintaining confidentiality in all matters.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
What we are looking for:
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems, CSA B51 pressure boundary systems and components, piping systems, facilities design and maintenance.
• Formal Project Management training and/or experience is desirable.
• Experience with AutoCAD or other design software is required.
• Knowledge of ASME boiler and pressure vessel standards and ASME B31 piping standards.
• Initiative and judgement to organize and maintain flow of work and accuracy of records.
• Must be punctual, dependable and safety minded.
• Detail oriented with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Exceptional organizational skills, able to prioritize and time management is required.
• Ability to understand detailed information is essential.
• Demonstrates responsibility and is accountable for accurately handling the details associated with one's work.
• Conscientious about accuracy.
• Ability to adapt to a changing environment and response with initiative.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills (oral and written) and proven ability to maintain successful working relations at all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.
• Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Able to work extended hours and off normal work shifts to support project needs.
Experience
• Minimum of eight (8) years related experience preferably with commercial or industrial building systems in the nuclear, process or power industries.
Education
• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution and eligible for membership with EGM as a registered Professional Engineer.
Security Eligibility Requirement
• Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of three (3) years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat 'Standard on Security Screening' and the 'Policy on Government Security'.
Working Conditions:
• Must possess normal physical agility necessary to perform all aspects of the work that involves bending, lifting, and mobility.
• Must be capable of wearing and working in protective clothing and using equipment as required.
• Office work environment. Occasional exposure to nuclear radiation and industrial hazards due to construction/demolition site visits in a highly regulated, monitored and controlled environment.
• May be required to perform overtime.
