The Nelson research group (
/research.fredhutch.org/peternelson/en.html) at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center has an opening for a Lab Aide interested in prostate cancer research and biomarker development who can perform routine work in a research laboratory.

This is a part-time position (15-20 hours per week).

Responsibilities

Prepare media and reagents, such as stock solutions;
Rinse and prepare glassware for cleaning;
Maintain clean and orderly laboratory area;
Clean and maintain lab equipment;
Check and replenish supplies;
Assist with experiments and set-up;
Perform clerical duties as required;
Cell culture and maintenance of laboratory cell lines and organoids;
Nucleic acid extraction and purification;
Processing biospecimens for immunohistochemistry and related assays;
Assisting with assays of cancer therapeutics.

QualificationsMINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

University/College degree in a scientific discipline such as biology, biochemistry, physics, engineering or related field.
Familiarity with cell/tissue culture methods and techniques;
Familiarity with DNA and RNA extractions.
Experience in a biomedical research laboratory.
Experience with standard molecular biology techniques including cell culture, nucleic acid purification, RT-PCR, gel electrophoresis, immunohistochemistry, protein purification, immunoblotting.
Training in biostatistics is an asset.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.00 to $25.45, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
