Online Education Assistant The SaskatchewanDistance Learning Centre requires continuing, full-time onlineEducational Assistants in campuses across the province.
Tenpositions are available and can be placed in our West Central Campus(Kenaston), Moose Jaw, Estevan, Yorkton, Nipawin, Prince Albert, orNeilburg .
This is a continuing contract position at 6 hours perday during each student contact day on the 2023-24 SaskDLC schoolcalendar.
The positions will commence on August 30th, 2023 at the campuslocation for successful candidates.
The SaskatchewanDistance Learning Centre is a newly formed Treasury Board CrownCorporation in Saskatchewan, created to deliver high quality andequitable online learning programs to students across the province.
TheSaskDLC head office is located in Kenaston, with an administrativeoffice in Regina, and nine regional campuses located in Swift Current,Moose Jaw, Estevan, Yorkton, Saskatoon, Nipawin, Prince Albert, Neilburgand La Ronge.
The SDLC will deliver online programming to approximately2100 full time online students and approximately 8000 part-timestudents attending schools across the province.
OnlineEducational Assistants will report directly to the Principal andsubsequent staff at each campus site within their assigned learningspace.At theSaskatchewan Distance Learning Centre, we are committed to providingstudents with a quality online educational experience; an integral partof that being meaningful student and parent interactions.
As an onlineeducational assistant, you will work with students in an onlineenvironment and will in most cases, be the primary point of contact forour learners.
We are looking to recruit individuals who seek tounderstand the challenges of online learning and strive to create realconnections with our learners.Online Educational Assistant Role Description:
The successful candidate will be required to attend to the needs of students as assigned.
Thesuccessful candidate will have the ability to work independently in anonline delivery model, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skillsincluding an ability to establish rapport, maintain a calm demeanor andwork collaboratively as a team, demonstrate excellent organizational andtime management skills, keep accurate and timely documentation,demonstrate an ability to adapt to the changing needs of students, and awillingness to learn new skills and strategies to effectively supportthe needs of students.
Candidates with previous experience working withindividuals with learning or cognitive limitations and/or post-secondaryeducation in a related field, such as an Educational AssistantCertificate, would be considered an asset.
Thesuccessful candidate will work as a collaborative member of a team thatmay include Classroom teachers, Student Support Teachers, School BasedAdministrator with Student Support duties, Principal and/or otherprofessional staff.
The successful candidate will provide assistance inthe delivery and implementation of educational programs and servicesthat facilitate the integration, growth, learning, safety and comfort ofstudents with intensive needs.
The successful candidate will workvirtually, one-on-one, and in small groups, with special needs students,youth with learning disabilities, those with special programming needs,and those with health and behavior-related issues.
