Primary Purpose of Role
The National Food & Beverage Manager oversees setup and operations of new cafes and bars in our shared office spaces. They ensure seamless openings and deliver exceptional hospitality experiences. Responsibilities include; managing venue operations, maintaining high standards of quality and customer service, ensuring consistent service offerings across all sites in line with our brand and vision and fostering a positive work environment.
The National Food & Beverage Manager will also drive catering services and ensure a comprehensive review of our hospitality experience for members, meeting rooms, and member events.

You'll need:
+ Extensive experience in hospitality management
+ Relevant qualifications including: RSA Certification, VIC/NSW Food Handling Certificate (or be willing to acquire these before joining The Commons)
+ Strong understanding and alignment with The Commons' brand and tone
+ Hands on attitude and approach to running our venues, including, working on the floor across all sites
+ Exceptional customer service skills and a passion for creating memorable experiences
+ In-depth knowledge of Melbourne and Sydney coffee and wider hospitality scenes
+ Effective project management abilities for venue setup and openings
+ Excellent leadership skills to inspire and motivate teams
+ Proficiency in managing teams remotely
+ Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities for operational improvements
+ The ability to take ownership of problems that arise and seek to solve these autonomously
+ Budgeting and financial management expertise
+ Excellent communication and collaboration skills
+ The ability to travel between Melbourne and Sydney and work flexible hours across our cafes and bars
The main responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
OPERATIONS
- Manage all aspects of setting up new cafes and bars, ensuring successful openings
- Devise and execute innovative new hospitality offerings
- Create and update cocktail bar menus and juice/smoothie bar menus to align with trends and member preferences
- Quickly address and resolve operational challenges with a problem-solving mindset
- Support on the floor, rostering yourself onto shifts, across all venues, as required
- Develop and execute comprehensive processes for all functions of our venues
- Collaborate with our Lead Chef to select menus, suppliers, and tailored offerings for exceptional quality
- Oversee staff selection, training, and performance management
- Develop and execute our catering services and relevant processes including upselling opportunities for meeting rooms to both members and external clients
- Understand wage percentages, COGs, P&L, wastage in line with budgets
- Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and adapt operations accordingly
MEMBER EXPERIENCE
- Maintain a deep understanding of our brand and tone, ensuring that all aspects of the hospitality experience align with our vision
- Develop and implement strategies to consistently enhance the member experience, such as special promotions or offerings
LEADERSHIP
- Take a proactive approach to recruitment, assembling a high-performing team that shares our vision and values, and contributing to their professional development
- Effectively manage and lead teams remotely and nationally, establishing clear objectives, providing guidance, and fostering professional development opportunities
- Collaborate with various departments including, events coordinators, state managers & department heads
- Take full ownership of your role by demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and leading by example
