Software Quality Assurance Engineer

SGGG Fund Services Inc. (SGGG-FSI) is currently seeking to fill a full-time permanent position for the role of Software QA Engineer. The successful candidate joining our existing software development team will be energetic, enthusiastic, reliable, and will have the opportunity to contribute to an effort in the development of financial services industry leading software.
Under the direction of the Vice President & Product Owner, the Team Lead - Software QA Engineer is responsible for the management and leadership of the QA team and associated deliverables; execution and the development of automated tests, enhancement, and testing of an investment fund accounting system. As a member of an agile Software Development team, you will be tasked with the troubleshooting of software issues and the writing and execution of both manual and automated test plans for software quality control. You will work with Business Analysts and end-users of an in-house developed software system to help define testing requirements and deliver on the execution of the testing needs. This represents a unique opportunity to be part of an established agile software development team that develops and implements new cutting-edge applications.
Candidate must reside in the Greater Toronto Area for consideration.
Core Responsibilities
• Manage all incoming work to lead our Quality Assurance (QA) Team to successful and timely deliverables
• Mentor team to ensure consistent timelines, continuous professional development and training of staff and co-op students meets QA standards
• Ensure all procedures are, without exception, followed accurately and consistently, and proper back-ups are included
• Estimating, planning, coordinating all testing activities and associated follow up
• Identify areas for automation, collect test data requirements, develop new test metrics and techniques to maximize testing efficiency and scalability
• Work with the Business Analysts and Developers to write and execute manual test cases for the on-going software development effort
• Troubleshoot escalated critical defects in software coding
• Develop and execute exploratory or automated tests to ensure software product quality
• Develop a professional and productive relationship with all levels of SGGG-FSI staff
• Keep management informed of any and all issues that could have a Customer impact
• Work to continually improve the processes associated with your assigned functions Qualifications
Work Experience
• 4 to 7 years of overall software testing experience (academic or professional experience)
• Manual QA testing experience is essential; will consider candidate with some automation experience
• Knowledge of the investment fund industry systems, operations, technical and business processes (an asset, but not required)
• Hands-on experience working with relational database systems (SQL Server preferably)
• Experience with web technologies (JavaScript, jQuery, AngularJS)
• Experience with the ASP.NET development environment
• Advanced knowledge of the MS SQL database environment
• Working knowledge of object-oriented design and application design principles
• Knowledge of network architectures, communication protocols in LAN/WAN environments
Education
• University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science (or equivalent experience in the field)
• Preference will be given to applicants with relevant certificates and training in Information Technology
• Preference will be given to applicants with current training and skill-sets
Soft Skills
• Effective Leadership skills to keep all members of the team on track, troubleshoot issues and focus on quality deliverables
• Clear and fluent communication skills (written, verbal) are essential to this role
• Work with minimal supervision to prioritize, manage and direct work
• Thrives in a fast pace working environment with competing deadlines
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail
